So we are now 10 days past surgery and things are still going well. Benji still tires after a few steps but I guess thats normal after not being to walk around for quite a while. We will start with Chemo tommorow and Accupunture and Hydro Therapy the week after. I am not to keen on keeping him on Rimadyl because he is already losing protein in his Urine and the combination of Chemo and Rimadly may lead to a eventual Kidney disease, maybe I am just paranoid. The Vets said that his numbers in his blood test show that everything is ok , the only problem is the protein leaking out which has to be supervised.
Today was the first day that we stopped all pain medicine and he was alot livlier however was licking his front paw now and then . Will give him a Tramadol tonight and hold back on the Rimadly until I ask the vet tomorrow. He has light artheritus so the extra pressure on his front and hind joints must be causing him some pain at the moment. I hope that after we do some Hydro therapy and Accupunture that I won’t have to give him pain medis for a while or aleast stall it off until Chemo is finished.
He’s been eating well, sleeping well and has not been groucy at all. Kind of nervous about chemo tomorrow and hope that the side effects remain a minimum, if not I will have to consider other options.

Aww Benji, you have it MADE kiddo, your Mom is really up on things, what a bunch of spa treatments you have coming up. You’re going to feel real good!
Neysha don’t feel bad about the Rimadyl. As long as you can keep monitoring his blood levels and all that stuff, you’ll have plenty of warning if it does any damage (probably won’t). I’m betting that the acupuncture will eliminiate the need for Rimadyl in the long-term.
Good luck with the upcoming week, you’re going to be busy!

Congratulations, Benji!
Are you a lab? a retriever? Handsome picture! my wonderful Tripawd had fibrosarcoma, and it will be a year since surgery in just two weeks or so.
Tripawd Rocky had a rocky time or two but right now lung mets (just one, a tiny one) are all we are dealing with.
Benji, you are a lucky pup.

Canned pumpkin and greek yogurt if he is nauseous .Plus I cut the feeding amounts in half or even less so there is only a little bit of food in Trina’s tummy at any point. Also feeding her right before bed and again first thing in the morning, if I don’t she gets heavey in the morning. We are doing chemo #3 on thursday.Good going Benji, you can do this!

thanks. Just had his first round of Carboplatin today. So far so good but I am asumming that its yet to come. I heard that they have to drink lots of water. Benji seems to drink a bit. How àre you managing that? How is Trina reacting to Chemo otherwise?

My 8 year old Golden, JuJu had his right front leg amputated on May 16th. Today was his first chemo of carboplatin. Our vet was amazed at how well he has adjusted, maybe more than me. He does have arthritis in his left front leg and his spine, so much his vertabrae are fused. He is on tramadol, deramax and gabepetin. Also adequan once a month. Looking now into physical therapy for him. He was thirsty and hungry when we got home. Ate and drank and having his nap. Hope he does well with the chemo. We had another Golden with lymphoma and tried chemo but it didn’t work and had to put him at peace. He had it 2 years ago and went into remission but after his lymne disease shot it came back. So doing this again after losing one 4 months ago is a hearbreaker. I hope everyday we have JuJu for a few years. He is truly a loyal friend.
